Dora Award-winning artist Kunlé is a Toronto-based singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist whose work draws from Yoruba storytelling. His music features a powerful interplay between vocals, talking drums, and contemporary fingerstyle guitar—brought to life through dynamic performances.
Moving seamlessly between Yoruba, Pidgin, and English, his songs balance cultural depth with a soulful, contemporary sensibility. His second album, Kunlé – The Journey, released in June 2026, is, in his words, “a collection of reflections on love, spirit, heritage and self-discovery”—mapping the roads that shaped him, both as a departure from the expected path and a return home.
A compelling live performer, Kunlé has appeared on stages including Mariposa Folk Festival, Koerner Hall, Summerfolk, Peterborough Folk Festival, Southside Shuffle, and Africa Day Festival in Hamburg, alongside international touring and performance work across Canada, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
